Department: HR and Learning

Location: Manchester, with requirement to travel to all Pinsent Masons offices and off - site venues.
**Please note there are 2 roles available and both can be based in either our Birmingham or Manchester office.**

Job Title: Learning and Development Consultant

Hours of work: 35 hours

Reports to: Head of Learning and Development

Responsible for: Supports projects internally and is responsible for tasks and assignments associated with the development of training.

Purpose of the role:

Provide value added learning solutions to the firm and support the Learning and Development Manager

Main duties and responsibilities:

Learning Design and Delivery

  • Working with the Learning and Development Manager on the design and implementation of Practice Group / Business Support function specific development activity
  • Jointly responsible for the delivery of in-house Pinsent Masons Academy workshops
  • Responsible for ensuring that all development workshops are evaluated, followed by discussion with the Learning and Development Manager to ensure continuous improvement for all relevant training activity
  • Maintenance and ongoing development of the L&D pages on the LMS to ensure a user friendly set of pages, with up to date information
  • the provision of specialist L&D expertise and advice to HR Business Partners and colleagues from Practice Groups and Business Operations teams
  • Support Line Managers in their management of staff with practical L&D solutions, ensuring they understand the options available to them to more effectively engage with and manage staff
  • Manage projects and systems relating to Performance Management, Reviews and Career.
  • Provide advice on relevant L&D policies and practice
  • Where necessary, conduct efficient learning needs analysis and provide forward thinking and practical L&D solutions

E-learning Design

  • Works with the L&D team to design and develop SCORM compliant e-learning
  • Develop storyboards and scripts for e-learning and virtual live training
  • Upload and configure e-learning content into new learning management system


  • Responsible for the setting of and management of e-learning budgets

Skills/experience required:


· A minimum of 3 years direct experience in an L&D role, ideally in a professional services environment

· Experience using e-learning software and of working directly with e-learning specialists

· Experience in Microsoft products, primarily in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint

· Competent to manage and deliver one off unique L&D projects

· Awareness of the emerging trends in Learning and Development and of best practice

· Ability to effectively prioritise workload and handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects

· Proven track record of being a strong team player

· Proven ability to work to tight deadlines with accuracy and confidence

· Able to take the initiative and driven by the desire for continuous improvement
