Learning and Development Advisor

We're recruiting for a learning and development advisor who will be responsible for developing a team of Care Workers through 1-2-1 observations, supervisions, guidance, coaching and annual appraisals. The focus is on improving overall quality and service provided to service users and their families. This is a part time post working 20 hours per week and salary is £19,000 - £20,000 pro-rata. You'll need experience in a supervisory role in adult social care and be a driver with your own vehicle.

The Learning and Development Advisor role

Training, assessing and developing the Carer Support Workers to enable them to achieve a high level of competence within the work-based learning framework by:

  • Assessing Carer Support Workers' competencies through observation or measurement of knowledge, including specialist checks required by the Local Authority contracts
  • Conducting and documenting timely probationary reviews with new Carer Support Worker recruits
  • Conducting Carer Support Worker supervisions and annual appraisals
  • Managing low-level performance issues - absence management, conducting back-to-work interviews.
  • Developing Carer Support Worker competence in using Electronic Home Care Monitoring systems, completion of documentation such as, running records, MAR sheets to ensure we are compliant with specific contracts and Care Quality Commission requirements
  • Developing and Implementing individual learning and development plans for Carer Support Workers
  • Providing coaching, guidance and mentoring opportunities to the Carer Support Worker as required
  • Delivering the Induction and practical mandatory training, using technology to capture and track the training
The Successful Candidate

  • The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong and sound Health and Social Care background, holding for example, a field care Supervisor, care manager, deputy manager or trainer position
  • NVQ QCF Assessor certificate (A1, D32/33) and/or Teaching Qualification - PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, CertEd, PGCE and/or Train the Trainer would be desirable
  • Sound working knowledge of the Care Quality Commission outcomes, the Common Induction standards and personalisation agenda
  • IT literate in Word, Excel and MS Outlook
  • Own transport and flexibility to travel across wider region where needed
