Salary banding: £36,613 - £47,722 plus £2,166 London weighting and market supplement

Brunel University London is a medium sized research-intensive university based in Uxbridge, West London. We have an excellent opportunity to join our Directorate of Information Services (IS) team as a Lead Technical Architect.

In this recently created role you will establish and maintain the application, infrastructure and data architecture unit ensuring software, application and project deliveries integrate within the wider estate on measures of sustainability, simplicity, security and flexibility in alignment with business architecture throughout the university.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to an exciting period of change. The IS Directorate is over 100 strong and plays a crucial role in supporting nearly 13,500 students and 2,000 staff. This support is critical to our success at a time of transformation and expansion across the University, and reports to our Head of Development and Application Services, a member of the senior IT leadership team.

The role requires demonstrable leadership capability, strong communication and collaboration, relationship building, positive influencing, presentation and temperament to deal with users at all levels of the organisation making a significant impact to the future direction of IS and the wider organisations goals for continuous improvement and best practice.

Sector experience is not essential however previous experience within Higher Education and/or exposure to the wider Public Sector would be advantageous.

Knowledge and Experience required:

*Knowledge of Technical Architecture activities in the full Software development lifecycle.
*Extensive knowledge in different practices & approaches for the elicitation, capture, playback and acceptance of architectural requirements with different stakeholders.
*Knowledge of different architectural techniques and frameworks using industry standard approaches.
*Significant demonstrable hands-on experience working in a software development environment in an architectural role leading technical architecture.
*Experience in using different techniques to elicit, capture and reconcile non-functional requirements with a range of different stakeholders.
*Exposure to and understanding of relational database tools, structures and modelling.
*Demonstrable experience in using a range of problem solving and decision making tools for different audiences.
