This ambitious secondary school, found in Basildon, covers a small and particularly deprived catchment area. Many pupils join this school at a lower than average ability but the hard work of the teachers drives them to an academic level much higher than expected. This Lead Practitioner of Humanities role has arisen as the team require a strong direction, being the only department at the school not yet producing the outcomes hoped for. This school has truly set the standard for failing schools by becoming one of the top schools in the area over the last few years. Although it was once considered a 'requires improvement' it is sure to be rated better next time around having gone through a big reshuffle. Following the troubled past, most staff within the school are relatively early into their tenure and as such have formed a cohesive team working towards a shared vision.
