This salaried GP post is available in the Glasgow Homeless Practice within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. These posts are for six months in the first instance, as services for homeless people are being reviewed as part of organisational change.
For General Practitioners who contract full time, we will offer 1 session per week in a General Practice within NHS GG&C, together with 1 session of CPD per week. This will be applied pro-rata.
You will deliver leadership of the GP team and Primary Care Medical Services for patients who are registered with the homeless practice and ‘non regular’ patients who are currently homeless and requiring GP team input because they are unable to access mainstream GP services. The services on this site include the Homeless Addiction Team, Homeless Mental Health Team, Occupational Therapy Team and a range of other visiting health services; Blood Borne Virus Team, Sexual Health Nurses, Podiatrist and Optician.
The purpose of the homeless practice is to provide holistic care and support to patients who are unable to access mainstream practices as a result of multidimensional socioeconomic deprivation, including housing insecurity. The service is evolving and this lead GP post is designed to lead the team in service development and the provision of high quality general practice care to this marginalised patient group. Along with the other GPs to support the service in providing capacity to see patients registered and referred to the practice as well as to provide GP expertise on outreach to existing outreach and street services to increase engagement for the most marginalised patients. To plan for future in-reach into mainstream general practice in order to support practices to better meet the needs of vulnerable patients who are returned to their lists as the result of action by the homeless practice.
In order to apply to must have a licence to practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and be registered on the NHSGGC GP Performer list.
