K+C Recruitment are working with a mechanical engineering company looking for a Lead Applications Engineer - Engine Interface Unit. We need people who can design engine interfaces from doing the design on CAD software through to the actual physical manifestation of the engine. This will be for very large diesel engines and you have to understand couplings engine mounts back pressure for exhausts cooling systems and flows gearbox sizing and alignments.

As Lead Applications Engineer - Engine Interface Unit, you will have responsibility for leadership of the applications design team defining contract engines to meet customer requirements.

Lead Applications Engineer - Engine Interface Unit, involves the following:

  • Setting priorities in conjunction with the Engineering Team
  • Lead applications project within the Company process and procedures to meet Cost, Quality, Standards and Timescale
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects to deadlines
  • CAD software experience 2D & 3D

As Lead Applications Engineer, you will have responsibility for leadership of the applications Engine Interface Unit design team defining contract engines to meet customer requirements.

Lead Applications Engineer involves the following:

  • Setting priorities in conjunction with the Engineering Team
  • Lead applications project within the Company process and procedures to meet Cost, Quality, Standards and Timescale
  • Engine risk analysis
  • Responsible for designing and defining mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to meet contractual obligations
  • Contract specific system engineering, gearbox integration, coupling design, AVM's, Piping and electrical, engine controllers and bridge controls
  • Contract specification documentation, technical data, specifications and drawings
  • Support future applications engineering - electronics fuel injection, emissions solutions, distributed i/o controls systems and value engineering opportunities
  • Analyse data and solve complex system problems as they relate to hardware selection, engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration and development

You will have experience of within an engineering, automotive or aerospace environment. In addition have a demonstrable track record of successfully achieving deliverables associated with major customer project and contracts.
