Our client is a global supplier focused on a wide variety of carbon, alloy and stainless steels meeting the needs of demanding applications around the world. They are recognized experts in engineering steels technology, manufacture and applications through high quality electric arc steelmaking, world class re-melting facilities and established mill processing capabilities.

Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for senior legal professional to join their team supporting the CEO’s and the General Counsel as a Senior In-House Counsel providing strategic level support to seven steel businesses. This will include providing specific legal advice to the businesses, supporting business turnaround objectives and growth in market shares and entering new markets.

As Senior In-House Counsel your key responsibilities include working on strategic legal objectives, advising CEO’s on risk strategy and legal framework and developing and providing training on legal requirements. Further tasks will include drafting and negotiating contracts and framework agreements in finance, project finance, long term sales agreements, standard terms and conditions and technology partnering agreements. You’ll also advise on complaints and provide guidance on legal and compliance strategy.

We’re looking for a legal professional with experience of working within a similar role, with knowledge of mergers and acquisitions and disposal activity. Sound knowledge of legal principles, specifically finance and contractual risk/liability is a must as is excellent communications skills and the ability to provide commercial and pragmatic legal advice. You will be customer focussed with the ability to provide accurate timely advice and must not be afraid to challenge the status quo, looking at issues from differents angles to help others.
