Do you have GSCE's at Grade 'C' or above in Math's and Chemistry? If so our client is a leader in the field of metallurgical testing and are looking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to work in their facility in Witham. The company are part of a global organisation testing a variety of commodities worldwide. The Laboratory Technician will carry out daily analytical requirements gaining knowledge and expertise to produce test results for the companies many clients.

Duties:
Ensure that work is carried out in strict conformance with instructions, established methods and quality standard.
Develop good laboratory techniques and manipulation skills.
Calculate and ensure results are understood and when directed, checked.
Gain knowledge of methods of preparation or analysis and to be able to follow them accurately under the supervision of the chemist.
Learn and apply safe working practices, and to develop a full understanding of the application of the COSHH regulations.
Learn and apply the role and importance of UKAS and ISO 9001:2000 in the Laboratory.
Ensure that equipment is efficiently and effectively used, and where directed, maintained.
Assist the team leader to prepare samples and to produce analytical results to a high degree of accuracy and within pre-set target times.
Report to the Supervisor on any deviation from, or failure of methods, systems and procedures.

Experience:
A minimum of four GSCE's at Grade 'C' or above, to include Math's and Chemistry.
The ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.
Must be able to communicate with Company personnel at all levels.
Must have good mathematical acumen.
Ability to prepare and analyse with speed and accuracy.
Must have the ability to work in an organised and disciplined manner.

Benefits:
Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a shift system changing every 4 weeks. 06.00-14.30 and 09.30-18.00 with 1 hour for lunch and 2 x 15 minute breaks
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
