About The Role
ISIS is the world’s most productive spallation neutron source — providing beams of neutrons and muons to enable scientists to study the structure and properties of matter for the benefit of science and engineering in the UK and abroad.
We are currently looking to recruit a Laboratory Support Assistant to work in the Experimental Operations Division as part of the Instrument Operations Group and Lab Support Group.
Responsibilities will include:
- you will be required to help maintain our laboratories to a high standard
you would be expected to stock take and replenish lab items
collect and deliver valuable technical equipment to and from other institutes using STFC lab vehicles when needed
collect deliveries from our central stores and distribute parcels to the relevant team members on a daily basis
calibrate and maintain scientific equipment such as pH meters and balances
relevant training will be provided where required.
You should have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (C grade or above) or equivalent including English.
It is preferred that you have previous experience in working in a laboratory or high technology engineering environment.
It is essential that you are confident in using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel.
You must have good communication skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
