Knowledge Engineer (NoSQL and Semantic Web)

Reqiva are partnered with Map of Agriculture Ltd based in North Oxford. They require a Knowledge Engineer to join their growing team.

Scope:

Map of Agriculture is a young and exciting technology company who are building a platform for managing and using data in the agricultural sector, and connecting farmers with the suppliers, customers and others in the agriculture information ecosystem.
Map of Ag are searching for a Knowledge Engineer to join its rapidly growing Information Experience team (AgIX) responsible for managing documents and data. This is a technical role, supporting the use of a NoSQL database, XML, and the Semantic Web for managing and processing unstructured data and documents.

Required Skills:

*Coding experience (ideally Python but other languages acceptable)
*Building and delivering robust REST APIs
*Knowledge of MarkLogic
*Database querying (SQL and SPARQL)
*Experience working with large and complex data sets
*Good academic track record, with a degree in a numerate, scientific or engineering discipline
*Experience within a formal development environment, including code repositories and project management tools (e.g. Jira)
*Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
*An advanced degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or similar subject a requirement
*Most importantly, a professional, responsible and 'can do' attitude. The Knowledge Engineer will be working with guidance from his or her functional manager and colleagues in NZ and the UK.

Optional Skills:

* Experience of semantic technologies (including RDF triples, SPARQL, SKOS, OWL)
* Experience of the use of open data and linked data on the Semantic Web
* Exposure to the agricultural, financial or natural resource sectors
* Experience with both geospatial (including Earth Observation) and aspatial data
* Experience developing client-side software using a variety of languages and tools (e.g. JavaScript)
* Experience with distributed and robust networked systems (e.g. IoT)
* Knowledge of farming

Salary: £40 - 50,000 dependent on experience
