We provide accommodation and support for young people (16 to 21 years old) leaving care, and our staff work with these young people to develop their independent living skills so that they can make the transition to fully independent adulthood..
Key-workers work primarily with young people living in their own flat and so have to travel from one placement to another in order to undertake their work. The hours worked with each young person, and the activities that are needed to support those young people's development and progression, can vary significantly.
Suppory Workers work in 24/7 staffed shared houses and so the work is organised as shifts, and activities are often done in groups rather than on a one to one basis.
You do not need to be doing this type of work currently, but you need the ability to engage with a wide range of young people who come from troubled backgrounds, and will present a range of different challenges. You also need to be able to effectively transfer those independent living skills that you take for granted to the young people you work with.
We need staff who can cover Colchester and Chelmsford as we are developing services in Essex.
We are a long established provider of semi-independent accommodation with support, and we provide services to a significant number of local authorities.
We will provide you with the induction, training and supervision you need so that you can effectively undertake this role with us, and you will become part of a growing team.
