Monarch Education are currently working with a number of Secondary Schools in the Derbyshire area who have plans in place to recruit number of Graduate Level Teaching Assistants to join their Year 7 faculty.

These roles would require Teaching Assistants to work solely with identified Year 7 pupils who did not meet expected standards in their recent KS2 SATS. You would be supporting these pupils 1:1 or in a small group setting; working with them to help bridge specific attainment gaps across Reading, Writing and Maths to help accelerate their progress in their new Secondary School.

These roles are ideal for Graduates who are passionate about a future career in Education; you may be looking to embark on a PGCE / Teacher training in the near future and would like to gain more experience to not only supplement your application, but also to gain a greater insight in to Teaching methods and raising standards.

It is essential that you have some experience of supporting pupils; this could be either from previous paid or voluntary work within a school setting or as a tutor. Due to the nature of the role, you should have a good knowledge of both the KS2 curriculum and KS3 across English and Maths, with ideas on how to ease the transition across Key Stages.
Working with pupils who have previously struggled with specific areas of their learning, you should be passionate about helping pupils to achieve and progress, and be confident working with pupils who may be disengaged from their learning. The right candidates will be keen to make learning fun for all pupils.
