My client is a new joint venture startup working on innovative products and services in privacy, identity and smartcity sectors. With support from a long established cybersecurity and IT firms it is looking for a strong candidate to join the team and contribute to the core development of new platforms. Located in Plymouth with opportunities to meet clients, understand the problems that need to be solved and dig into the details of the technical, personal and society impacts of the problem and solution options, the role would suit someone with an analytical mind, easy-going character but very strong work ethic.

Being part of the team you will have a direct impact on the continuing growth of the business, with the opportunity to contribute your ideas on how they make things happen.

This is the company’s first hire of a bespoke web developer so the role has huge potential for the right person to take responsibility for this side of the company in future. It is essential to the company's growth that the developer receives ongoing training, support, growth and exposure to new opportunities.

As our Junior Web Developer you will be part of a team responsible for developing and supporting the company's new products and services. You will also be responsible for ensuring our customers receive high quality customer service & experience. However, training or support will be given where there are opportunities to improve.

Core Skills:

· Have knowledge and understanding of developing websites using PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax and related technologies.

· A basic understanding of cross-browser/cross-device issues.

· You must be able to write code to industry standards, or be willing to learn quickly

· Have an interest in upcoming technologies and appetite to learn.

· Must have exposure to databasing and database query optimisation

· Collaborate on projects and be able to multitask

· Have an appreciation of SEO, discoverability, progressive web apps and accessibility.

· HTML5 experience desired, but not essential.

Job Type

Full-time temporary with potential to go permanent for the right candidate, This is a key hire for the company and the successful applicant could progress to lead developer over time.

Pay: £9.20 - £10.20 Depending on experience. 

37.5 hour working week
