Junior Product Quality Technologist
Our client is a supplier and manufacturer of trusted and valued children’s toys, sold in the UK and internationally. As part of their ongoing expansion and development, they now require a Junior Product Quality Assurance Technologist to join the QA team.
Your role will be:
To ensure that all toy products are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
You will work with internal departments within UK Europe & Hong Kong, external suppliers, inspection companies, test laboratories and enforcement authorities as required.
The role will require occasional visits to the companies Hong Kong office, their suppliers & factories, Their UK customer HO, stores and distribution centre.
·Support Quality Assurance Engineers & UK product team.
·Provide support to wholesale customers and their QA Manager as required.
·Support other departments to ensure QA policies are being met.
·Provide advice on the quality, safety & compliance of new product initiatives.
·Conduct, document & communicate new product risk assessments, identifying test requirements and potential quality and safety risks.
·Provide details of the required technical information for packaging to design team and check & approve subsequent artwork.
·Provide & document QA input at all product development stages.
·Update NPD Tracker with QA information.
·Create & maintain product technical files & create EC DOCs for approved new products.
·Maintain the Technical File Log.
·Create Special Inspection Check requirements for pre-shipment inspections.
·Provide support to HK QA to review & approve pre-shipment inspection results.
·Provide advice on the quality, safety & compliance for International markets.
·Monitor product performance statistics in terms of returns, store & customer complaints, internet reviews & product incidents & provide regular product performance updates.
·Investigate & identify the root cause for products performing outside acceptable levels and follow up corrective action.
·Investigate customer complaints and poor product reviews to help provide a suitable customer response & identify any corrective action required.
·Conduct Returns Analysis
·Continually review QA procedures and recommend changes to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
·Contribute to the development of the product Quality Manuals.
1.Required minimum 3 years previous experience in a QA/product technologist role.
2.Preferred Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design or Testing Laboratory background or experience, ideally with toys.
3.Experience of International Directives, Regulations, Standards & requirements.
4.Logical thinker with ability to analyse numerical and written data.
5.Strong investigative skills with ability to identify risk and implement effective solutions.
6.High level of attention to detail.
7.Ability to work with, and protect, confidential information.
8.Strong organisational and time management skills.
9.Good written and verbal communication skills.
10.Computer literate with intermediate knowledge in MS Word, Excel & Access.
11.Full UK driving license would be advantageous.
