Posted 10 November by Clever Polly Talent Featured Ended

Talented Junior Creative Front-End Developer required for multi-award-winning publishing and events company. Brilliant opportunity to join a busy, creative in-house studio and make your mark working with huge brands in media, entertainment, exhibitions and publishing.

About Us: We’re a multi-award winning publishing and events company with a cutting edge portfolio of design-oriented magazines and exhibitions. Boasting strong brands and high-profile media partners, our products are entertaining, stylish, innovative and authoritative, commanding loyal, engaged audiences.

We’re rather proud of our funky, design-led office space but we’re a gimmick free one - so no tree houses, slides or roundabouts. Instead - and far more importantly - we offer genuine career progression within a vibrant, creative environment. The culture here is open and friendly and your contribution will be valued.

We’re now looking for a talented Junior Creative Front-End Developer to join our busy, thriving in-house studio and help ensure our online brands stay fresh, focused and user-friendly.

About You & the Role:

The role will include working closely with and supporting the senior developers to develop, deploy, update and maintain our portfolio of websites and associated digital platforms. You will be responsible for the online brands in terms of front-end development and the functionality of the content management systems. You have a sound understanding of how information is communicated on a website in terms of site architecture, usability and accessibility. You have demonstrably sound technical skills, and can confidently apply the skills detailed below.

You're proactive, inquisitive - a problem solver with good communication skills and self-motived to learn new technologies and techniques. You have a critical eye for design and a real passion for clean code.

Working with us, as part of a close-knit team, will give you the chance to work on a variety of different projects that will further develop your technical skills, broaden your experience of working on design-focused UX friendly products, test your ingenuity, creativity and problem-solving abilities and enable you to grow as an accomplished front-end developer.

Core skills, Experience and Requirements:

Must Have:

  • Some professional experience - perhaps internships - or evidence of completing web site projects (not just apps) whilst in education
  • An online portfolio showing finished projects and/or github (or similar) work in progress
  • Knowledge in creating fast loading, responsive online experiences
  • Experience with cross-browser compatibility & testing
  • A meticulous attention to detail
  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS and Javascript
  • Ability to code with accessibility and SEO in mind
  • Good standard of written and spoken English

Nice to have:

  • Experience using back-end languages: PHP ideal
  • Experience working with CMS i.e. Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal
  • Experience with common front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap

So, if you can take on all of the above with confidence & flair we want to hear from you!

Please note: the interview process will include a test of your technical skills. Please do ensure you have the required skills as detailed above. Your application must also include a link to your online portfolio.
