Abingdon, a leading independent day and boarding school, is looking for a recent technology graduate to join the team as a Junior Developer.

Job Title: Junior Developer & Data Manager

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Salary: £19,000 - £22,000 per annum, depending on experience + benefits

We are looking for somebody who shows a genuine passion for IT who is willing to learn and progress quickly into a competent production developer.

As a junior, we only expect a basic working knowledge of relational databases (SQL), development technologies (Python, Java, C etc.) and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Chances are you’ll have been exposed to these as part of a University course or through online courses.

Working alongside the Information Systems Manager and our existing development staff, the role is divided into two distinct areas:

Junior Developer

Helping to develop bespoke in-house software solutions using the following technologies: Python, Django, Bootstrap, jQuery, SQL, NodeJS and RESTful API interfaces.

We expect that under guidance and self-learning, you will be able to quickly take your first steps into development as a career.

Data Manager

Assisting the school’s staff when using iSAMS, our critical Management Information System. This will be achieved by gaining a detailed knowledge of its functionality and other relevant school’s applications, systems and integrations. You will be tasked with creating SQL reports, maintaining data quality and helping deliver the seasonal tasks the school requires.

Essential

- Degree level qualified (recent, or graduating this summer)

- Basic working knowledge of relational databases (SQL), programming technologies

- Enthusiasm for web development & database applications

- Strong desire to learn new IT skills & languages

Desirable

- Degree in Computer Science, Computing or equivalent

- Evidence of personal Github repository, Open Source contributions, personal website/portfolio
