Jackson Hogg Supply Chain division are delighted to be supporting an established organisation in Northumberland on the appointment of a Junior Buyer to join their procurement team.

This is a full-time and permanent role that has been newly-created due to growth and offering £25,000 per annum. This position comes with excellent progression opportunities into a Buyer role across the next 2-3 years!

The working hours are Monday to Friday either 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00 with 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, flexi working scheme, competitive pension scheme and a genuine progression path.

Job Role;

  • Obtain the best value for money when purchasing materials and services.

  • Ensure services and materials are delivered on time and to agree specifications or service levels.

  • Manage performance of vendors against key performance indicators in any contracts or supply agreements.

  • Ensure risks to continuation of supply of services or materials are identified and dealt with.

  • Assist the buyer in undertaking tender activity for materials and service providers and selection of appropriate vendors in collaboration with site stakeholders.

  • Assist the buyer in vendor business review meetings and vendor performance assessments.

  • Maintain a contracts database for the site.

  • Ensure timely resolution of invoicing queries.

  • Ensure requisitions are converted to purchase orders correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Provide required paperwork to assist in the approval process of indirect spends in excess of £10,000 per purchase order.

  • Create new vendor accounts as required.

  • Ensure open orders are closed where appropriate.

  • Maintain and promote effective communication, both internally and externally.

  • Maintain database of departmental metrics including vendor OTIF, cost savings and avoidances.

The Skills / Experience:

  • Experience of working with SAP advantageous
  • At least 1-2 years' experience in Procurement
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.

  • Negotiation skills - be able to influence outcome with vendors.

  • IT literate - able to summarise and evaluate using Microsoft products, eg, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
