Java Developer

Avanti Recruitment is working with a company based in London who are working within the financial sector and are on a mission to increase efficiency in markets. The company has crafted a foreign exchange technology for brokers that focuses on optimising PnL since their launch.

They work in a hybrid way, and you would be expected to be in the office 3 days per week in Central London.

The company is now looking to expand and wants to take on a Mid-Level Java Developer who has financial experience - ideally working with Low-latency / E-trading systems.

On a daily basis you will find yourself working in a small close-knit team and will be reporting in to a Senior Developer where you will become an integral part of the team responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the fullstack from the operating system through to the application and servicing customers.

You will be working in a varied position, you will be working on server-side Java code for high-volume applications including working on developing prototypes, integrating with high frequence data sources, and liaising with external partners responsible for outsourced functions/components. You will find yourself working at all stages of the projects from inception to delivery and will also be working on quantitative models (Pricing, Hedging, Analytics).

Essential Skills:

- BSc in Computer Science (2:1 or 1st)

- Strong server-side Java experience (4+ years minimum)

- Excellent understanding of software engineering practices

- Understanding business requirements and translating into tech requirements

- Strong at building performant components and data structures

- Financial experience (Ideally financial markets / low latency / e-trading systems)

Desirable skills:

- Experience with Fullstack (Typescript / React / JS)

- Experience with KDB+ or similar

- SQL / ORM

- JMS or similar asynchronous messaging APIs

- Maven

The interview process for this role is 3 stages:

1) Cultural discussion with the CEO / Overview of the company, role and an overview of your CV and experiences

2) Technical Challenge

3) F2F Final

The salary on offer for this position is up to £65,000 + Hybrid working + Healthcare + Pension.
