Okay it won't be quite as straightforward as that, but Testing is a step that just can't be ignored!
As we build our enduring Smart Metering development teams, we are looking for a talented Test Manager to lead a test team, ensuring that our systems and applications meet the needs of the business as we move into the Smart era. Our systems are developed and tested across both our Northampton and Ipswich sites and this role will look to leverage the benefits of this setup, to identify opportunities and efficiencies.
In this role you will own and govern the test process across our Smart Metering development projects. You'll play a key role in ensuring that test strategies are proposed, implemented, on schedule and risks controlled. Our industry is fast paced and ever changing, and you'll play a key part in keeping us ahead of the curve.
Your background of managing software testing across the full software development cycle will allow you to create and execute test strategies and test plans, including functional and non-functional aspects.
With experience using Agile development methods, you'll be able to lever your experience and best practice to choose the best test approach for each piece of development work. You'll also be given the freedom to reflect and evaluate our processes to ensure we are operating effectively.
Technically, experience of functional testing of applications implemented on the Microsoft technical stack, integration testing with other internal and external systems and non-functional testing would be ideal. If you've got experience of the utilities industry, Smart and testing compliance with regulatory standards' then even better!
Due to the nature of the Smart programme, you'll be managing 3rd party Test resource and service providers, including selection, service delivery, and knowledge transfer. Therefore, experience of handling similar relationships would be a big advantage.
The role won't have you head down in a screen all day, you'll have a team of direct reports to coach, mentor and motivate, ensuring that it's not only our test environment that functions effectively and to its full capability.
