IT Technical Support Engineer

Based near Pool in Cornwall, this well respected and rapidly expanding technology business is looking to recruit an IT Support Engineer. Working on a varied portfolio of clients, you will provide technical support in addition to implementing IT solutions. Reporting direct to the Managing Director, we are open to applications from someone with a limited degree of experience looking to expand their knowledge, or alternatively we would consider an experienced individual looking for additional responsibility (salary will be dependent on experience).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Helpdesk - Resolving customer support enquiries
  • Site visits - Resolving complicated or urgent support issues; installing new IT hardware or software
  • Taking full responsibility for client issues and dealing with them in a professional, methodical and organised manner from diagnosis to solution
  • Building long term relationships and a professional rapport with customers
  • Ensuring that all 'tickets' are logged in an appropriate manner in accordance with the company guidelines
  • Being confident in identifying and recommending solutions to customers
  • Escalating any serious issues to the management as and when appropriate
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the technical support processes
  • Mentoring and assisting junior members of the team when required
  • Leading by example in providing exceptional customer service
  • Undertaking any ad hoc project work as required

The Candidate:

  • Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft products relating to desktops, laptops, tablets & servers
  • Knowledge of MS Office and other key business software
  • Knowledge of relevant IT hardware & peripherals
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and customer facing communication skills
  • A positive 'can-do' attitude
  • A natural problem solver
  • Good sense of humour
