IT Support Technician

Purpose of the Role:

Provide effective IT assistance across all aspects of the business and will provide back-up and support to the IT Manager. Working on the helpdesk across a variety of IT faults and queries, and with a range of systems and technologies. Assist in and execute business projects as and when required in line with current business objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Answer and respond to support incidents
  • Diagnose & troubleshoot both hardware and software issues
  • Assist in projects as and when required, eg. New sites, infrastructure, DR, case management system development
  • Administration and configuration of business systems
  • Keep detailed records and add to company processes
  • Monitoring and maintenance of hardware, software and network solutions throughout the business
  • Ensuring that all systems and networks are operational during working hours
  • Planning, communication and execution of IT projects and deliverables in line with business requirements
  • Monitoring and periodic testing of system backups
  • Adhering to relevant laws and legislation such as GDPR
  • Carrying out routine preventative maintenance to maintain operational capability
  • Executing the IT onboarding and offboarding of staff members; user account creation, access rights and permissions, systems access, staff exit process
  • Supporting in disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Minimum of GCSE grade C, or equivalent, in Maths and English
  • Minimum of 2 years in an IT Support Role
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Server and Desktop
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • Good understanding of networking; DHCP, DNS, LAN, VLAN, VPN
  • PC/Laptop/Server Hardware
  • Good Knowledge of MS Office
  • MS Exchange
  • Office 365
  • HyperV
