IT Support Technician

Our client has a vacancy for an IT Technical Support Engineer to assist the IT Manager in the support of hardware and software internally and externally to staff and customers.

Key Tasks

  • Provide desktop support to all users for all IT systems, hardware and software.

  • Manage network security and work on threat prevention, maintain the network infrastructure including cabling and the replacement of hardware.

  • Assist external members of staff with remote access

  • Administer and support mobile devices including smart phones and tablet devices.

  • Maintain company in-house systems and applications across the business including but not exclusive to core management, reference databases, HR and time & attendance.

  • Keep software up to date and ensure latest versions are used and updates are installed

  • Liaise with customers on licensing/leasing issues for the companies software including all subsidiary applications and features. Provide support where required on setting up the software and networking.

  • Help manage the email system, carrying out day to day maintenance as required

  • Maintain the UK section of the website, including updating, adding articles, and supporting staff or customers who may have issues. Design, maintain and edit the UK Intranet.

  • Manage and control hardware returns of leased equipment.

  • Research options for future IT projects, and plan and manage any projects which are authorised.

  • Carry out data management and ensure backup and disaster recovery procedures are followed.

  • General maintenance and administration of the IT areas throughout the business.

Essential Skills

  • Extremely competent knowledge and understanding of PC hardware, MS Windows and Office applications.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and in an orderly fashion.

  • Ability to learn quickly.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Credibility and be able to be trusted with confidential information

  • Be able to travel to London if required

  • Ability to prioritise and work to laid down guidelines.
