Our client operates within the professional services sector and has a vacancy for an IT Software Developer. Ideally you will have at least 3 years experience in a similar role. Your key duties will include:

  • requirements analysis to gain an understanding of business needs to develop level of effort estimates, software design and development, unit testing
  • developing reliable and scalable solutions to meet organisational needs
  • managing development items to closure within time, cost and quality constraints
  • translating user requirements into detailed design specifications to deliver effective solutions
  • creating and maintaining application documentation, including Technical Specifications, Database Maps, data Dictionaries and Stored Procedure lists
  • being capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level
  • providing regular and effective progress updates to and work closely with the development team leader to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues
  • defining delivery phases of the project including activities, sub-activities, and milestones ensuring these are documented and used as the basis for the project event log, issues and risk log and any subsequent reporting
  • ensuring awareness, involvement and support from the key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication on the project status throughout its life cycle
  • analysing user requirements
  • evaluating, assessing and recommending software and hardware solutions
  • developing software, architecture, specifications and technical interfaces
  • developing user interfaces and client displays
  • developing, delivering and testing software prototypes
  • initiating and driving major changes in programs, procedures and methodology
  • innovating and developing high-value technology solutions to streamline processes
  • coordinating with other developers and software professionals
  • reporting to the IT development team leader and/ or team members concerning day-to-day progress and issues

Your additional duties will include:

  • reporting to the team on regulatory and legislative changes (identified through monitoring of a variety of sources) which could impact the relevant legal groups / the wider profession
  • the internal auditing of files / work areas to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards
  • assistance in risk and best practice improvement projects

Key competencies you will need:

  • the ability to build solutions against a specific design/branding
  • a strong background in application development, with the desire to research and learn new skills and technologies as they become available
  • experience in planning, executing and reporting on various forms of testing, including system or integration testing, performance and regression testing
  • experience in a variety of software development approaches and methodologies
  • experience in requirements capture, analysis techniques and process improvement approaches
  • hands on experience in producing technical functional specifications
  • knowledge of full software development lifecycle
  • the ability to work on multiple development work streams concurrently
  • to be a strong team player with the ability to work as part of a team in a development environment
  • to be a logical thinker with a sound approach to problem solving
  • to be well organised, able to work with minimal supervision
  • to be self motivated, results oriented, positive and professional
  • to have commitment, flexibility and adaptability when managing change
  • the ability to use good judgement and make decisions
