Home base + client site work. South East (all home counties and London) Midlands, North of England and Scottish based candidates wanted.

To suit M25, M4, M3, M40, M1, M6 Corridor candidate with good motorway connectivity. Good locations - Home Counties - Berkshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire, etc. or Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh etc. (Approx 2-3 days a week on the road expected - remainder from home with occasional line manager and team meets at regional offices).

£40,000 - £50,000 basic pa depending on experience and seniority + Car allowance (£5,400 paid as salary on top) + Comprehensive benefits Package + Expenses. My client is looking for a range of experience to reinforce a large professional services team based all across the UK.

Leading public sector facing software and information solutions house requires several Software Delivery focused Project Managers to join an established UK wide team working to deliver an on-going programme of COTS and bespoke software implementations with various public sector clients - mostly local authorities and various other institutions and quangos.

Will suit an experienced and established professional Software Delivery Project Manager with significant experience of software solution implementations and experience of delivering IT Projects to Local Authority stake holders.

To clarify: Experience working was a PM with any Local Authority stake holders - either as a supplier of software or as the inside PM working directly for a Local Authority / Council.

Experience delivering projects with an element of bespoke work and proven ability to handle multiple concurrent projects is essential. Average project value is between 10K to 50K. Some projects are up to several £M+ value and are usually a mix of back office systems development and further development of white label web sites used by local authorities. This team aims to deliver standard implementations in an innovative way and to spot opportunities for client orders so good commercial understanding and presence will be key.

The post holder is likely to possess the following:

Experience of managing software projects in a commercial environment for public sector clients
An understanding and experience of working with Project Methodologies such as PRINCE, PMBOK or similar and experience of customising methodologies to meet needs
Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Visio etc.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Flexible and can conform to shifting priorities, demands and time lines
Ability to read communication styles of customers and other team members
Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating - with ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources
Ability to defuse tension and address objections from customers and the wider project team
Able to negotiate and reach compromise to ensure project completion
Strong written, oral and communication / interpersonal skills
Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies

Responsibilities include:

To manage and control the delivery of allocated customer projects/orders within a commercially aspirated project framework
Agreeing, in conjunction with commercial staff and the customer, the project scope, goals and deliverables
Developing full-scale project plans and associated documents
Effectively communicate project information to team members and stakeholders
Liaise with all project stakeholders (internal and external) on an on-going basis
Estimating resources
Negotiating with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel
Managing project expectations with both the customer and company stakeholders
Delegating tasks and responsibilities to personnel
Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts, dependencies and critical path
Planning and scheduling project time lines and milestones
Tracking project milestones and deliverables
Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
Proactively managing changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
Ensuring project success criteria are understood and agreed by the customer throughout project life cycle
In conjunction with other managers; coach, mentor, motivating and supervising project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
Building, developing and growing vital business relationships
Critiquing personal and project team performance to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and improve future project success
Managing the financial aspects of the projects including controlling project costs and managing customer invoicing.
