Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience
18 - 24 month contract

Our client provides technology-driven marking systems to worldwide companies. Based in Trafford Park, my client is keen to recruit a high calibre individual to join the IT department on an 18-24 month contract, to deliver its strategic plan and offer first class support to the company to optimise efficiency and improve the customer experience.

You will report to the Finance Director and will be a motivated self-starter with a background of successful project completion and business partnering skills.

You Will:

  • Play a key role as part of the IT department to drive continuous improvement in processes, efficiencies and department performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the company's cash flow without impacting business performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication links with other departments, ensuring timely and appropriate communication on business matters.
  • Seek and develop external knowledge and relationships to help improve the Company position e.g. customers and prospects, suppliers, partners, competitors, industry and regulatory best practice, expert consultants.
  • Support the IT Strategy to deliver improved functionality, efficiency and value of the IT systems, in line with the company's mission of improving the customer experience.
  • Be a key point of contact regarding IT and IT security matters.
  • Set challenging but achievable goals and targets to develop the IT personnel.
  • Support the IT Strategy to deliver improved functionality, efficiency and value of the IT systems, in line with the company's mission of improving the customer experience.
  • Business partner with other departments to support them in achieving their strategic objectives.
  • Develop strong working relationships and communication links.
  • Develop links with external partners beneficial to the company's IT and technology needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the IT department and other key employees to deliver their IT Strategic Plan.
  • Evaluate IT projects and technology (using the company's Stage-Gate process where necessary) and implement them on time and within budget.
  • Participate in multi-disciplined internal project teams.
  • Work alongside other company departments to provide customers with innovative solutions. For example, working alongside R&D to develop commercially viable technology.
  • Support projects to optimise existing IT infrastructure.
  • Work with end users to improve efficiency and provide training where required.
  • Experience working with Virtual Servers. (Ideally VMWare & AWS).
  • Provide 3rd Line IT Support and cover for the IT department.
  • Support and train company staff in the use of new/updated software or IT equipment, and provide assistance to any staff on IT matters generally.
  • Prioritise own and IT department workloads and IT objectives on a day to day basis, with support of the Finance Director where necessary.
  • Maintain systems in line with business needs and ensure upgrades to the software are implemented as required.


  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an IT department within an SME environment.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong technical background.
  • Business partnering experience
  • Project Management with evidence of implementation successes
  • Essential experience: Network administration including domain admin, virtual servers (ideally VMware & AWS) cloud computing, troubleshooting, Windows server, Active directory, group policy.
  • Desirable experience: Epicor ERP system, Crystal reports, Lotus Notes, SQL database experience, programming, BI Software
  • Department management experience would be advantageous
  • You should have an IT related HND or equivalent qualification
