RSPCA Assured is the RSPCA's farm animal welfare assurance scheme and ethical food label. We promote and apply welfare standards drawn up by the RSPCA through administering and marketing the RSPCA Assured label.

The main responsibilities of the post include: Management, maintenance and effective exploitation of the organisations IT solutions (hardware and software) to meet the needs of the organisation and its key stakeholders.

  • Understand the needs of the business and its key stakeholders (staff, farmers, food manufacturers, supermarkets etc).

  • Evaluate risks associated with our IT solutions and suppliers giving consideration to disaster recovery and business continuity; make recommendations to the leadership team accordingly and help ensure the necessary policies and procedures in place.

  • Consider both existing IT solutions/suppliers (hardware and software) as well as prospective new IT software solutions/suppliers to ensure that the organisation always has the best solution availability within budgets.

  • Prepare written recommendations for new IT solutions - or the update extension or development of existing software solutions - to best meet the needs of the business and its key stakeholders.

  • Manage the organisations long term IT software strategy in collaboration with the RSPCA’s own IT department and RSPCA Assured leadership team to ensure a joined up approach; and oversee the ongoing relationship with the RSPCA’s IT department - ensuring policy standards are aligned and adhered to wherever possible.

  • Manage day to day improvement/projects (updates/upgrades, implementation of new extension/bolt ons, system development, system support, error management, data migration, user testing, data protection impact assessments etc) of existing IT systems/software solutions to meet the agreed requirements of the business and its customers; including communicating with and co-ordinating any project team members.

  • Manage the implementation and change from system or software to another, including preparation and undertaking of user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Organise and implement ongoing communication with and training of staff and customers so they are able to use our IT systems/software solutions and any new functionality effectively.

  • Prepare written and verbal briefs for any third party suppliers and manage the day to day relationship with those suppliers to ensure work is delivered on time and budget; including raising and following up on support calls to keep the organisation running.

  • Where necessary measure the results of the implementation of new IT systems/software solutions or the update, extension or development etc of existing IT systems/software solutions against agreed requirements, including the service experience and satisfaction of both staff and customers.

The successful applicant should have: Relevant IT/Software development qualification (A-Level or equivalent), CRM/database development, cloud technology principles. Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise multiple tasks.
