Investment Specialist and Research Coordinator

Investment Specialist and Research Coordinator opportunity available at Redmayne Bentley. The role can be based at either Leeds or Locksbottom.

Working as an Investment Specialist and Research Coordinator the successful candidate will co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the investment research department, provide support and assistance to the Redmayne Bentley offices by way of commentary, written work and investment idea generation.

Duties will include:

  • providing in-house research to support the investment committees helping to structure, develop and communicate investment recommendations.

  • managing the performance of all investment research department staff including appraisals, coaching and mentoring.

  • identifying training requirements within the investment research department and ensure they are carried out.

  • producing articles for client publications and provide media commentary and observations/views on new issues and fundraisings.

  • updating standard paragraphs for use by investment managers in review letters.

  • monitoring and initiating commentary on the intranet blog.

  • reviewing written work for factual accuracy from other areas of the business.

  • handling enquiries from investment managers concerning stock selection and ideas.

  • reviewing the risk and asset categorisation of investment instruments and contribute to the investment risk categorisation committee.

  • monitoring, filtering and distributing external research in line with MIFID II regulations and maintaining a log of breaches.

  • creating template pitching documents/presentations for existing and potential clients on behalf of the firm.

  • participating in and/or attend company briefings/updates/conference calls and circulate observations/views to the firm where appropriate.

  • assisting with general enquiries, ad-hoc requests and any other additional tasks.

  • ensuring all telephone calls to the investment research team, from offices or clients, are responded to within a timely manner.

  • co-ordinating the investment research team and assist with the coordination or the firm’s overall research function.

  • reviewing/monitoring processes surrounding the investment research department and suggest changes to increase efficiencies where possible.

All candidates should:

  • have a strong interest in and knowledge of the stock market, different investment types, asset classes and financial software (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.)

  • possess an intermediate level of MS Office skills.

  • be innovative, have excellent written communication skills and be able to remain calm when working under pressure. Time Management, organisation and analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail are also important.

  • have the ability to understand and analyse complex information and disseminate.

  • ideally have previous experience within investment management, investment consulting, asset management or investment research experience.

  • be qualified to at least industry level 4 e.g. CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma in Securities; CFA; or equivalent accredited body retail qualification relating to securities.
