The candidate should be self-motivated and able to work in a team, with a background or a desire to work in mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering. They should possess a technical qualification BTEC Level 3 or at least have GCSE’s in English, Maths and Science. Experience in motion control, scientific research equipment or machine maintenance would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
Initially the role will focus on handling enquiries, quotes and orders for existing products so a systematic and disciplined approach to administrative tasks is required. Later on, the ability to solve problems systematically with a confident use of mathematics would be an advantage as the candidate could be required to size motors, drives, power supplies etc. from first principles - training will be provided.
The candidate must have a good standard of spoken & written English although any foreign language skills would also be useful (especially French) and possess a confident manner both on the telephone and in face to face situations. They must be capable of operating under pressure provided by tight deadlines and customer supply and application problems.
Confidence with computer systems is essential, experience of Microsoft Office, contact databases, and stock management systems would be an advantage.
The position would suit either a young person looking to train in a technical sales role (an apprenticeship could be an option), or a recently qualified engineer / technician with a desire to move into sales. Alternatively the role could be adapted to suit a more experienced person leaving the armed forces, returning to work after a period of absence, or someone no longer wishes to endure the rigours of a field sales role.
The position is based in our offices in Ash Vale, so the candidate will ideally be located within easy travelling distance.
A basic salary of £20,000 to £25,000 will be on offer according to candidates experience and qualifications and travel on company business will be funded by the company.
