Internal Communications Business Partner

Our client is known for constantly evolving business, designing and implementing strategies that reshape their network from the ground up. You will be responsible for overseeing and delivering the internal communication plan for Business Services including Property, Renewables, OSUK, Developer Services and their sludge business.

Working with the Business Services Senior Management Team and the relevant Executive team member, the role holder will deliver a suite of effective employee engagement and internal communication activities that align with the client's overall strategy and comms plan. The overall aim being that we all work together to become the most trusted utilities company by 2020.

Key accountabilities:

  • Lead on the development and delivery of the internal communications strategy for Business Services ensuring it aligns with the group communications strategy
  • Develop and manage the internal messaging and channels for Business Services ensuring we can effectively communicate with colleagues across those teams and can provide them with the essential information they need through an effective channel strategy
  • Lead on all change and transformation communications planning and delivery for Business Services, and where necessary represent communications on relevant leadership steering groups. Lead change comms teams as required
  • Work closely with the leadership team to produce compelling communications content and programmes that help support the business objectives
  • Create awesome employee moments and help to drive employee engagement across the directorate
  • Engage with operational and management teams to make sure that communications land effectively
  • Act as an account manager for Business Services with the wider communications team ensuring that there is one key point of contact but that the directorate also has access and can benefit from the wider team skills as and when required. Ensure all tasks and projects are completed to a high quality and on time
  • Provide mechanisms to respond to communications issues raised by employees
  • Define and deliver the measurement and evaluation of communication activities in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Support the business with clearly defined guidelines and templates to allow local delivery of engaging and effective communications. Take an editorial role to define the relevant content from the directorate that needs to be communicated company-wide
  • Be part of the Communications leadership team, delivering on corporate communications and engagement initiatives as well as Directorate focused material. Manage and develop the internal communications team

What we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven senior internal communications and engagement experience with experience of leading change communications and designing comms strategies and plans, preferably gained within another large organization
  • Ideally experience of managing a team and/or leadership skill
  • Experience in developing and implementing communication plans that helps the business meet its goals
  • Experience in handling the design and delivery of engaging employee messaging and campaigns
  • Event management experience, particularly proven expertise in managing large, impactful events
  • Ability to create effective communications to drive a best practise and continuous improvement culture
  • Capable of influencing strategic thinking with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a culture of change. The ability to bring insight, creativity and strong planning to the fore
  • Internal Communication planning
  • Excellent writing skills, good attention to detail and quality output
  • First-hand knowledge of a wide range of communications disciplines and best practice
  • Sound working knowledge of a wide channel mix
  • Strong interpersonal skills in managing and influencing key stakeholders - experience in partnering with the business at all levels and building internal and external relationships
  • The confidence to challenge the norm and be able to deal with conflict and competing agendas
  • Creative thinking and problem solving
  • Self-motivated individual who enjoys and embraces challenge with a quality driven energetic approach
  • Confident and articulate with excellent listening skills

  • Bonus Up to 20% of annual salary
