My Client a London Acute Trust is seeking an Interim Head of Financial Planning

  • Lead the business process for strategic financial planning across the organisation, including assessment of future financial threats/opportunities and providing appropriate plans and actions to minimise risk and maximise opportunities.
  • Make appropriate judgements and financial decisions where there is no precedent, and where leading opinions may differ or conflict.
  • Develop a reporting system to facilitate the production of financial plans
  • Responsible for production and review of financial plans for presentation to the Trust Board.
  • Ensure the implementation of appropriate controls and procedures designed to increase awareness of and adherence to the financial planning principles throughout the Trust.
  • Lead on the production of all financial planning reports including supporting the completion of all internal and external reports and external financial returns in a timely and accurate manner and with appropriately detailed and accurate working papers.
  • The production of monthly and quarterly monitoring returns as required
  • Work with Business Planning to assess the financial implications of the Trusts manpower, activity and service plans and ensure these are appropriately reflected in the financial plans
  • Advise the clinical divisions in relation to capacity planning, ensuring that sufficient capacity has been secured to deliver annual contractual obligations
  • To continually review this process to make year-on-year improvements in the discharge of the annual plan
  • Ensure the financial performance monitoring system reflects the agreed financial plan.
  • To facilitate quarterly reporting of progress against the annual plan.
  • Generate innovative solutions to highly complex and contentious financial challenges which face the Trust in the short, medium and long term
  • To ensure robust planning systems are implemented to support staff in proposing service changes to improve patient care.
