Interim Director of Finance

Search Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be working in partnership with a local not-for-profit organisation that is looking for an Interim Director of Finance to join them on a 6 month fixed-term basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Management of the internal audit function and contract and responsibility for the implementation of and compliance with accounting controls, systems and procedures
  • Management of budgets, monthly financial reporting, Board papers and review of KPI's
  • Ensure all capital and other projects are adequately resourced and in line with cashflow management, cost management, income generation opportunities and all legal considerations
  • Advise and manage investment sub-committee and manage investments
  • Provide financial leadership at strategic and operational level
  • Be the leading interface between Executive Team and Trustees on all financial related matters
  • Ensure of sound risk management systems and corporate governance arrangements
  • Lead, motivate and develop the Finance and Information Security teams
  • Ensure compliance with the latest accounting standards
  • Be responsible for the Information Systems ensuring fit for purpose


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Professional Accounting Qualification
  • Experience of operating within the public or not-for-profit sector
  • Senior and strategic financial management experience including management of a finance function and large teams
  • Strong financial management of organisations
  • Experience of central government finance and reporting requirements
  • Broad understanding of taxation issues
  • Ability to design and implement governance frameworks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders


You will be joining this organisation at a key time of change. You will report to the Director and lead its Finance and Information Services functions. You will enjoy the challenge of continuing to improve all aspects of their work within a tough economic climate. You will be a key member of the Executive Team and provide sound financial information, strategic advice and guidance to the Director, Board of Trustees and Executive Team.
