Interim Category Manager
The role is based in Cambridge and it's a 12 month Maternity Cover Contract.
o Develop strategies for the nominated managed categories;
o Use category management expertise to identify projects for approval to the relevant internally led purchasing groups;
o Support departments in tendering, particularly for high value equipment/services, in specification, evaluation of bids, whole life costing techniques;
o Undertake full spend analysis to determine contracting focus that will deliver increased value for money savings;
o Support the Head of Procurement in the dissemination and implementation of the organisation's sustainable procurement policy;
o Provide professional purchasing advice as required to all personnel, including key senior staff, to ensure that they achieve best value for money;
o Identify, implement and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities both internally and externally.
o Comprehensive, demonstrable knowledge of modern procurement techniques, process efficiencies, internal and external collaboration, sustainability;;
o High level of literacy and numeracy;
o Strong analytical ability and an organised approach;
o Understanding of and experience in managing client/contractor relationship;
o Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills;
self-motivated and capable of motivating others;
o Capable of prioritising and managing their own workload;
o Demonstrable evidence of personal contribution in procurement activities including responsibility for tendering and supply chain management.
