About the Company:

A FTSE 100 company, this client is a hugely successful UK household name so this position is working in secure environment plus there is a strong opportunity to progress into a higher level role within the business.

Duties:

Develop customised solutions and modules in a range of development tools, primarily Python-based

Work with senior members of the team to define and scope configuration, interfacing and enhancement work with the supplier, project managers, and financial engineers

Undertake setup and configuration of the Algorithmics and third party products (database, middleware, reporting solutions), troubleshooting, testing (functional and volume) for original installation and system upgrades, including Microsoft SQL serve

Work with senior members of the team to ensure analysis and requirements are detailed enough to implement solutions right first time

Keep up to date with latest technology and code advances and suggest improvements

Design and implement interfaces between source systems and AlgoOne products

Provide new ideas to ensure the batch process is automated and as efficient as possible

Monitor / run batches through the batch execution cycle in a BAU environment

Ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into your day to day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk

Ideal Skills Required:

Experience of IBM AlgoOne risk suite is beneficial

Proven experience in software or database systems development and/or support with experience of project life cycles and complex product installation, customisation and commissioning

Software development life cycle, including Agile and Continuous Integration

Knowledge of automated unit test design

Good hands on use of Unix commands / file systems and Unix application installation and shell scripting is beneficial

Python development experience and coding skills plus one of: VB, Java, C++, Shell, Risk++

Familiarity with database essentials (SQL, installation, sizing, performance), experienced DBA skills not essential, but familiarity with using Oracle or MS SQL Server required, including SSIS

Source control, issue management software, and continuous integration software (Perforce, Subversion, JIRA, Hudson, Jenkins)
