Provide support to the Inspection department by assisting with basic inspection duties at the request of the operations team. Basic responsibilities will be (but not limited to) ship/shore tank sampling, retail petrol forecourt sampling, collection of samples from various locations, sample delivery, collection/delivery of documentation to/from vessels and supervision/stock control of inspection department storage container.
Tasks to be performed
To obtain representative samples from vessels/shore tanks/retail petrol forecourt as per clients requirements and/or International standards. * Ensure samples are collected from variously location as directed by the Operations Team within the required deadlines. * Collection and delivery of samples / equipment etc from client sites when and where appropriate. * Work closely with the Laboratory team to ensure an effective Quality and Quantity service is provided to the customer. * Help store, retrieve and dispose of samples in a proper, traceable and safe manner to ensure compliance with relevant health & safety and COSHH legislation. * Maintain and monitor inspection department stock of sampling equipment to ensure that the Inspection team has an appropriate supply and customer service is not affected. * To carry out all operations in strict accordance with applicable procedures for operations and safety. * To work in a flexible manner / call out pattern so that resources are aligned to workload, thus meeting customers' needs for 24hr 365 day service whilst still maintaining a long term viable and competitive business for our client * At all times, adopt a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and clients, in line with the Company's policies and procedures and to ensure the OGC business maintains its 9001 & 18001 status. * Ensure full compliance with the Company's Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct, and at all times adopt behavior in accordance with UK's Equality & Diversity policy.
* Ability to carry out physically demanding work, the majority of which is outdoors on a 24/7 rota. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision whilst still delivering services to the timescale and standards expected. * Ability to work to tight and often conflicting deadlines to meet client requirements. * Competent in using the Word and Excel software.
GCSE: Maths & English (grades A to C) or equivalent.
Knowledge of COSSH * Understanding of Oil & Chemical storage and transfer procedures. * Understanding of critical sample taking procedures.
Experience of Oil and Chemicals industry, particularly oil / chemical products, storage and handling facilities
International Federation of Inspection Agencies Exam.
A level: Maths & one science based subject, or equivalent.
