Overview:

Client uses Hybrid cloud infrastructure platform using one or more technologies like Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESX, Openstack, IBM, Azure and AWS to host their customer's application services and workloads in the cloud. The Infrastructure Lead Architect is responsible for architecting and designing solutions for IAAS/PaaS/SaaS on hybrid cloud platform for a variety of internal and external product used by our clients. Whilst a deep technical role this role will also include client facing meetings in which solutions are discussed and will also include the initial setup and deployment of new solutions to client.

The successful candidate will report to the head of infrastructure architect responsible for the solutions, consulting and systems integration of Hybrid cloud transformation programme.

The Lead Architect will liaise extensively with

  1. Customers for developing cloud strategy, adoption roadmap and support business case-TCO/ROI analysis
  2. IT/Infrastructure teams involved in transformation project delivery
  3. Other product SMEs/architects from CoEs within HCL and as well as partner/OEM SMEs
  4. Application development and support teams
  5. Sales and Pre-sales team helping with technical design, bill of quantity, effort estimation and transformation approach around IAAS, PAAS and SAAS in RFPs

Main Responsibility:

Lead the design of Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure solution to meet business requirements

  1. Create documentation around the solution proposal, design and implementation
  2. Lead the consulting, assessment, PoC and implementation engagements of Hybrid Cloud solutions
  3. Engage with customers and implementation teams around solving business and technical problems in the Hybrid Cloud ecosystem
  4. Provide technical oversight, review and quality control of artefacts throughout the project
  5. Contribute to the development of Hybrid Cloud standards, best practices and organisational capability

Language:

- Fluent verbal and written English

- Candidates applying outside UK should have fluent in speaking Swedish, French or German

Basic Requirements - Essential

Azure or AWS Certifications

Any advanced Cloud Architect Certifications (Advantageous)

Work Experience

- Professional experience architecting large scale distributed systems

- Hands-on experience using compute, networking, storage and database services using Azure or AWS

- Implementation experience in elasticity and scalability concepts

- Understanding of network technologies as they relate to Hybrid Cloud

- A good understanding and implementation experience of all security features and tools that Azure or AWS provides and how they relate to traditional services

- Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS deployment and management services, and as well as third part tools

- Hands-on experience in moving IaaS workloads using Re-hosting or Re-factoring migration approach

(Advantageous)

- A strong understanding and experience of how to interact with hybrid cloud (SDK, APIs, Command Line Interface, Azure ARM or AWS CloudFormation)

- Experience in high available or distributed applications

Technical Skills

- Broad project life cycle experience - especially in Enterprise environments

- Expert knowledge of Azure or AWS or Openstack platform features and capabilities

- Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, reverse proxies, routing, switching etc.)

- Security (Firewall configuration, IPS/IDS etc.)

- Understanding of common application approaches and technologies (eg SOA, message queuing)

- Understanding of common database technologies (eg backup/restoration, replication/mirroring)

- Understanding of common Internet technologies (eg e-mail, web Servers, web services)

- Experience designing for disaster recovery, hybrid cloud storage, backup and archival

(Advantageous)

- Experienced producing multi-tiered, loadbalanced, redundant application infrastructure architectures

- SAN and storage (RAID configuration, caching etc.)

- Experience using Azure ARM/Automation or AWS Cloud Formation or automated deployment/configuration tools (eg Chef/Puppet)

- Java SE & EE, including EJB3.x, Web services, JMS, including two or more different JMS implementations (eg. WebSphereMQ/MQSeries, ActiveMQ, HornetQ, Oracle AQ, etc)

- Two or more Java EE Application Servers (JBoss AS, Glassfish, WebSphere, WebLogic)

- Familiarity with other cloud technologies

- Bash Shell Scripting in Linux/Unix, AWK

- Windows PowerShell
