This role encourages and drives the development, optimisation and safe implementation of the Route Asset Management plan with the maintenance and engineering teams to meet customer requirements and deliver route and network targets.

This role will provide professional engineering, railway knowledge and asset management capabilities to the route/s.

Other key responsibilities include:
  • Managing the development and implementation of safety, asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency initiatives. In conjunction with the Head of Operations, deliver plans to address customer needs and performance issues.
  • Leading and directing the development, implementation and optimisation of the Control Period Route Asset Management plan (3-5 years dependent on the Regional operating model) to meet route and regulatory business requirements.
  • Acting as Route Customer for the Capital Delivery programme of work.
  • Providing professional engineering and asset management leadership within the route and giving guidance to route senior management on engineering and infrastructure issues.

Leading Level 1 assurance for asset safety, integrity and sustainability across the route to handle business risk and performance.

Are you:
  • Extensive knowledge of the rail industry
  • Registered Engineer at CEng level with the Engineering Council or equivalent experience

Do you have?

  • Experience of successfully leading a large complex infrastructure delivery organisation, particularly related to maintenance, renewals, and enhancements
  • Demonstrate strong customer focus in a multi-disciplinary team
  • knowledge of the strategic management of safety
  • Strong leadership skills, with the vision and ability to establish multi-functional relationships and drive cultural / organisational change
  • Ability to influence decision making and build multi-functional relationships

We follow a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: £107,428 - £127,890.
