Infection Prevention and Control Operational Lead Nurse (AfC 8a)

South Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Registered General Nurse who has proven Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) experience. This is an exciting new opportunity to work as part of an evolving Infection Prevention and Control Team, working across the Coventry and Warwickshire Health and Care Partnership (HCP) in collaboration with local Public Health and Local Authority partners.

The successful candidate must hold a recognised qualification in infection prevention, have studied to degree/masters level and have significant clinical practice experience in this field.

You will contribute to the development of the IPC HCP service and offer specialist expert advice, in the field of IPC. Where appropriate you will deputise for the Strategic Infection Prevention and Control Lead when required and provide direct line management to the IPC nursing team. You will work both autonomously and as part of the IPC team across the system, striving to minimise risk from healthcare associated infection and the impact of COVID 19, as well as delivering plans to respond to on going challenges. You will lead and be responsible for a small team of nurses and support staff.

You will be expected to work across Coventry and Warwickshire and undertake site visits as required, therefore being a car driver is essential.

The post includes providing clinical and managerial leadership to the Infection Prevention & Control team. You will practice at an advanced level, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making. You will work as a highly specialised member of the team to assist in containing and reducing the incidence of infection across a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings including school early years, some work place settings and with vulnerable, at risk groups.

The role is a collaborative one, working with individuals and groups, across professional and organisational boundaries. You will identify, investigate and monitor infections and hazardous practices/procedures, work with the IPC team in the investigation and control of outbreaks of infection, and develop and deliver educational programmes to multi-disciplinary staff. You will assist in the delivery and implementation of plans to make a big impact over the coming year, as well as continuing to respond to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
