Harrogate Borough Council have an exciting opportunity for an In House Maintenance Team Supervisor to join their growing team based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Job Title: In House Maintenance Team Supervisor (M&E)

Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Salary: £28,485 - £30,153 per annum

Hours: 37 per week

Temporary Contract for up to 12 Months

The Council’s Housing & Operational Property team are currently seeking to appoint a Supervisor to join the In-House Maintenance Team (Mechanical and Electrical) who provide an extensive repairs and maintenance service to the Council’s public, commercial social housing properties.

As our In House Maintenance Team you will ensure that repairs and maintenance work in HBC physical assets are programmed efficiently. To supervise the work of the In House Maintenance Operatives and ensure a high quality of work and safe and efficient working practices

In House Maintenance Team – Key Responsibilities:

- Programming and Co-ordination of mechanical & electrical repairs and maintenance operations required within the Councils public, commercial and domestic properties.

- To ensure the IHMT have identified the work required to meet the agreed current electrical and mechanical standard

- To ensure sufficient resources are allocated to ensure turn-around targets are met

- To co-ordinate sub-contractors where necessary to facilitate major works

- To update the Repairs Manager and clients with all information regarding any works being carried out

- To liase with suppliers in respect of purchase and delivery of materials

- To ensure mandatory safety checks are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures

- To ensure a high quality product is being delivered by the IHMT operatives

- To ensure that work carried out is accurately recorded and priced

- To ensure key dates are recorded and monitored for reporting to the Repairs Manager

- To ensure an efficient use of materials and van stock replenishment

- Diagnose Electrical & mechanical defects and specify remedial work

- Instruct IHMT operatives in respect of remedial work to ensure a high quality repair

- Design and specify adaptations to ensure compliance with the building regulations etc

- To provide hands on assistance when required

- To assist the Repairs Manager in respect of site visits, problem resolution, van checks, health and safety checks, equipment checks and management, health and safety surveillance checks, supply chain management, sub-contractor management,

- Liaise with tenants or prospective tenants and colleagues regarding the specific requirements of work required within commercial or domestic dwelling in an electrical or mechanical factor

- Vehicle use and maintenance

- Carry out routine safety checks as required

- Ensure vehicle is well maintained from both a mechanical perspective as well as a presentational one

- Drive the vehicle to; maximise fuel economy, minimise wear and tear and provide safe regard to other road users

- Corrective Work

- Where appropriate, carry out corrective work to work completed by the IHMT completed from a limited van stock of tools and materials

- When required attend all meetings and trainings held by clients and colleagues if required by the repairs manager

In House Maintenance Team - Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate:

- Experience of efficiently supervising a multi-skilled team of operatives

- A competent understanding of mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance

- Defect diagnosis and resolution skills

- Previous user experience of an IT based building control systems

- Experience within a local authority environment would be of benefit

- Applicants will need to have the highest levels of customer care and have a cheerful and positive disposition. In addition, applicants need to be highly motivated, organised and capable of balancing conflicting priorities with minimal supervision

- A full driving licence is required
