Hygiene Manager

Evening/night working is required for this role working 5 nights out of 7.

Working across 2 sites within the same location the Hygiene Manager is accountable for achieving the given standards of plant hygiene, chemical usage and labour costs with due regard for food safety ensuring all Critical Control Points within their area of responsibility are recognised and has responsibility for the activities of Team Leaders and, through them, Hygiene Operatives..

  • Contribute to that department/ add value by developing requisite skills in this area in line with competency framework.

  • To achieve plant hygiene targets on a daily basis with minimum chemical wastage

  • To be aware at all times of the operating efficiencies of hygiene equipment and any defects. And communicate with the Engineering Department such defects and ensure they are rectified promptly.

  • To communicate regularly and effectively with the Factory Manager and General Manager in order that they are fully briefed on all aspects of the cleaning operations, plant cleanliness.

  • To keep up to date with relevant processing developments, advising and recommending any changes which could make qualitative or quantitative improvements to the efficiency, productivity or costs of the operation

  • To control, organise and manage, the department work force and its availability each shift, such that the planned hygiene is achieved.

  • To ensure that Team Leaders and Hygiene Operatives are managed, motivated and trained such that their performance is progressively improved.

  • To control holiday allocation and absence levels for your department, ensuring the agreed limits are not exceeded

  • To monitor and control any negative environmental impact arising from the processes within area of responsibility; ensuring that all direct reports and colleagues are briefed and clear in regards to their responsibilities.

  • The Person

  • Relevant Chemical / Food Hygiene / qualifications

  • Food manufacturing experience

  • Exposure to a variety of quality standards such as BRC and HACCP

  • Demonstrate experience of identifying and implementing appropriate change to deliver business improvement

  • Strong leadership skills and experience of managing people.

  • Commitment to Safety both in terms of people and products

  • Strong decisions making skills, highly motivated, with attention to detail

  • Good organization skills to plan cleaning schedule and ensure this is delivered to the highest standards
