Start early January 2019 for two months initially

We are seeking a Human Resources Administrative Assistant with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join a Central London university in a busy and varied role.


You will be working at an award-winning leading architecture school, joining two HR & Staffing Officers and reporting to the Finance & Human Resources manager. The generalist role will focus on a range of activities including but not limited to payroll, HR policies and procedures, recruitment and selection and operational best practice. The opportunity will exist for the right candidate to develop experience across multiple areas.

THE ROLE
• To support the existing team of two HR & Staffing Officers in the provision of an effective and efficient Human Resources and Staffing service across the School
• To enforce operational best practice including liaising with line managers about probationary reviews and appraisals, processing new starters and other duties
• To assist with Payroll including providing advice to candidates, ensuring compliance, calculating and preparing payments and processing
• To assist with recruitment and selection including the preparation of advertisements, scheduling interviews, providing information to managers on inductions and other duties

THE PERSON
Essential skills:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proven experience working within Human Resources
• Previous experience dealing effectively with a variety of people at all levels, organising a varied workload and remaining calm in a busy environment
• Proficient in MS Office (including Excel) and using email
• Ability to pick up and learn to use new software systems quickly
• An understanding of confidentiality and ability to deal with sensitive information
• Good administration skills and ability to develop, maintain and review administrative and computerised systems
Desirable:
• HR Qualification, CIPD modules and/or HR related training courses
• Experience of working within Further or Higher Education or a similar educational environment
