Adopters for Adoption are looking to recruit a Hub Social Worker who will be responsible for managing locally the day to day support and matching of children with adopters in line with Adoption regulation, standards and guidance. There are two roles available which will be home based, one in the East Midlands and one in the West Midlands.


  • Grow their local area in line with the business plan in terms of adopter recruitment, placements and ongoing support

  • Working with both internal staff and Independent Social Workers ensure that prospective adopters are thoroughly prepared and rigorously assessed and approved to become adoptive parents in a sensitive and empowering manner

  • Oversee family finding activities for cases in the West Midlands and ensure best practice

  • Ensure that adopters receive the best possible support pre and post order

  • Attending meetings, chairing review meetings and managing adoption support groups and ongoing activities in your area in line with the wider service

  • Ensure internal and independent adoption Social Workers deliver their required tasks to the highest standards and without unnecessary delay by carrying out regular formal and informal supervision of social workers as detailed in the supervision agreement

  • Provide consultation to Independent Social Workers

  • Performance manage the agency social workers and help to address individual and team learning and development needs effectively and efficiently

  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Service and team in reviewing and developing the VAA in accordance with related legislation, regulations and national and local priorities. To undertake projects and other pieces of work as required in achieving this aim


  • Hold a Social Work qualification as recognised by the HCPC or equivalent body

  • Registered as a social worker with the HCPC

  • Experience of working with children and families

  • A proven ability to produce a high standard of report writing and high level of skills in written and oral presentation of information (including data analysis using IT such as Excel or similar)

  • Experience of assessment of adopters
  • To be able to evidence an understanding and practical application of the use of IT and electronic communications, including the use of Microsoft Office

This is a part time position (21 hours per week), with a salary of up to £35,000 per annum pro rata + benefits.
