HR OFFICER (Education)
****This role has a progression path to HR Business Partner ***
up to £35,000 Basic + Plus Excellent Benefits
REED is currently working with a local College, they are recruiting an new HR Officer to be trained as a HR Business Partner. Experience with in HR Advisor, HR Manager or HR Officer essential.
To be responsible for supporting the achievement of the principles outlined in the College’s People Strategy by providing a professional HR Service. To provide a forward thinking, operational consultancy and advisory service to managers and staff within identified divisions/departments across the College.
To provide high level, clear advice to senior leaders on a range of complex HR matters. To develop and maintain excellent professional working relationships, supporting managers with their current and future people management needs.
Provide specialist advice on HR policy, procedure and operational practice. To oversee a fair and effective recruitment process, advising managers in terms of the College’s processes and procedure and representing the HR Team on selection panels.
Support managers and staff on employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance management, sickness absence and avoiding redundancy in line with College procedures, employment law and best practice.
Support with advice, guidance and support to managers in relation to the handling of complex employee relations matters.
Maintain effective working relationships with trade unions. Undertake the development and implementation of HR policies, practices and procedures that are legally compliant and optimise productivity and adaptability. Lead at least one of the cross-college HR priorities in line with the principles of Our People Strategy.
To undertake research and project work on employee related issues, following current best practice and external trends.
Work alongside the HR Manager and play a role in employee relations issues including consultation and liaison with the trade unions.
To ensure own continuous professional development and stay up to date with employment law and best practice. To work with colleagues in HR and Payroll to ensure a high quality, efficient and timely service is provided to all internal and external customers.
· Ideally be qualified to CIPD 5 level preferred
· Degree Level Qualification in a relevant subject
· Experience of working in a busy HR environment, as part of a team
· Experience of providing advice and support to managers/senior leaders
· Handling a range of employee relations issues including discipline, grievance.
