Amaryllis are recruiting for a very exciting position working as a HR Officer within a secondary school in Gloucester. This role involves a wide variety of HR aspects, with the successful candidate being the main point of contact for all HR queries within the school. You will be hugely supported by the Head of HR and Regional HR Manager.

This is a role you have the flexibility to really make your own and grow your skills in HR.

The working hours are unique in that you have the option to work either during term time only on a pro-rata basis, or on a full time basis throughout the year, with school holidays to be worked from home.

As the HR Officer Duties will include:

Personnel:

  • Letters and appointments for employees, including carrying out vetting checks such as DBS, right to work, references and qualifications
  • Implementation of induction process for new staff, governors and visitors
  • Organising probation meetings
  • Ensuring personnel details are maintained within the HR portal
  • Overseeing staff attendance procedures
  • Monitoring / recording annual leave

Recruitment:

  • Managing recruitment administration including advertisements, applications, shortlisting, interview arrangements, vetting checks and reference requests

Payroll:

  • Managing payroll, checking salary reports, reconciling monthly payroll figures and supporting the finance person

Staff Training:

  • Coordinating the performance management process and staff training, ensuring staff have completed training modules relevant to their role

Safeguarding:

  • Awareness around the responsibility for safeguarding the children, support the Safeguarding Policy within the school

The ideal candidate will be minimum Level 3 CIPD qualified, or have a degree within HR. This school is looking for someone with a passion for HR, who has been responsible for a variety of HR duties, and confident with being the point of call for all HR queries at the school.

Knowledge of checking payroll reports or dealing with payroll admin is advantageous, and experience of checking DBS / Safeguarding / vetting processes would be great but not essential.
