Your new company

My client are a national retail and logistics business with over 3000 employees and a large operation based in Stoke on Trent. They have an opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join their team to cover a period of maternity for 12 months.

Your new role

As HR Manager you will be responsible for providing HR advice, support, and service, to the Store Development and Central Operations areas of the business based at the Stoke site. . You will be responsible for full generalist HR service, Influencing and advising Management on HR related issues and providing advise on and implement employment law and procedures.

You will Oversee Disciplinary and Grievance processes, liaise with admin team re absence e.g. sickness, maternity, paternity and advise on structural /contract changes whilst ensuring all colleague information is accurate and up to date on the database.

You will also hold responsibility for supporting training and development initiatives, assist with recruitment into the business and delivery key HR projects according to business requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

You will ideally be CIPD qualified or equivalent with a string generalist skill set gained in a commercial environment, ideally retail, logistics or closely aligned sectors.You will be up to date with legislation/custom and practice knowledge and practical application with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels.

You will enjoy problem solving and challenging the status quo with a 'can do' attitude and a proactive manner willing to take responsibility/ownership. As HR Manager you will be resilient and able to influence with excellent system skills especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.You must be able to take a flexible approach to working hours to support a 24/7 operation and you must be a driver and happy to travel when required.

What you'll get in return

The role attracts a salary of c£27,000-£35,000 plus benefits with a start available during February available for the right candidate.
