HR Business Partner

£30,000 to £40,000 plus car plus bonus

  • 4 days a week travelling


  • Work in partnership with the business, influence, design, implement and review key people objectives that are aligned to both the business and company strategy

  • Build, develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders

  • Partner up with key stakeholders to deliver a programme of activity to implement and embed business change and key initiatives within the business plan

  • External Service Providers - ensuring effective working relationships with third parties are maintained and advising of appropriate action when agreed standards of service and costs are not met.

  • Building customer relationships - at all levels to meet business needs, including key contacts, to ensure issues and concerns are dealt with effectively.

  • Communication links - ensure that you establish, promote and maintain excellent communication links with all internal departments and key contacts

  • Ensure compliance to legislative, HR and company standards

  • HR Policies and Procedures - reviewing the consistent implementation of all policies including Discipline, Absence & Grievance, giving appropriate feedback to management team on issues of non-conformance.

  • Communication - ensuring compliance to agreed procedures and advising team regarding action plans in cases of non-conformance

  • Employee Relations - support the ER processes within the defined ER mapping activity.

  • Employee Communication forums- supporting implementation of agreed principals, reviewing effectiveness of established processes via employee forums union and non-union, feedback through unit manager

  • Trade Unions - overseeing local agreements and advising regarding issues arising

  • Performance Management System - reviewing implementation and supporting team in coaching and advising line managers, ensuring reviews take place.

  • Extensive TUPE knowledge and experience

  • Handling the full TUPE cycle

  • Travelling to 22 depots across UK to offer HR solutions

    Must have: Excellent TUPE experience is ESSENTIAL


  • Degree or equivalent experience plus relevant professional

  • Proven experience as a strategic commercial HR Business Partner within a corporate environment

  • Proven experience of embedding and reviewing strategic change projects

  • Proven experience of partnering with senior stakeholder with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels

  • Ability to develop and implement a successful people strategy that meet the needs of the business

  • A sound knowledge of ER issues and employment legislation

  • Experience of working in a large and complex environment

  • Strong communication skills in all disciplines including written, oral, email and presentation

  • Offers a considered approach to problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and recommend solutions.

  • A positive attitude to dealing with people

  • Strong interpersonal, listening, customer service and organisational skills.

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team with the ability to quickly build and maintain professional relationships

  • Good IT skills

  • Extensive knowledge of HR practices including; employee life cycle, resourcing, development, performance management, reward and employee relations.

  • Experience of coaching & influencing senior managers.

  • Strategic thinking and planning skills;

  • Strong commercial awareness

  • Ability to drive change

  • Mobile in location

  • CIPD qualified

  • Extensive travel is required in this role

  • Proven ability in a previous HR role.

  • Eligible to work in the UK
