Applicants are invited to apply for the HR Apprentice vacancy within the Group Human Resources Department, based at the Port of Liverpool. This is an 18 month fixed term contract.

Role Purpose: To respond promptly to HR related queries within agreed Service Level Agreements. With training, the HR Apprentice will support the HR Connect team, delivering the highest standards of advice to line managers and employees, whilst providing HR administration support.

This role will include the following responsibilities:
-Act as part of the HR Connect Team, responding to all HR related queries via phone, email and in person
-Be fully up to date and knowledgeable of all company policies and procedures in order to deliver the highest standards of advice to employees
-Manage own and assigned HR Connect emails
-Provide proactive HR Support to the wider HR team, line managers and employees
-Support HR Connect team with payroll administration to ensure payroll is 'Right First Time’
-Support the Talent Team with recruitment processes; for example post job advertisements and coordinate all internal and external interview scheduling
-Produce references, and confirmation of employment letters
-Process new starters, secondments, promotions, leavers and change of terms and conditions, including systems changes and ensuring all relevant documentation is provided and/or received within the required timescales
-Create interview, training and induction packs as required
-Support line managers with sickness absences

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
-Practical experience or working in a HR environment preferably in a HR Shared Service environment would be preferable
-5 GCSE’s Grade C or above, or equivalent, including Mathematics and English
-The ability to prioritise effectively and work to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
-The ability to work under pressure with changing priorities
-Customer service experience
-Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
-Ability to work with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
-Effective diary management, planning and organising
