Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Advisor will provide first line advice, support and guidance to managers within the business in relation to all people related matters. A key part of the role is also the provision of data and reporting information at the request of Managers within the business.

This is a generalist HR role based at our Head Office in Leeds with frequent travel involved around the UK, where you will act as the first point of contact for general HR queries from all Kloeckner colleagues and managers, providing accurate and timely advice. You will effectively liaise with your HR Manager to get support and help with any HR issues/queries which need to be escalated. You will be involved with all aspects of HR including:

  • Working closely with managers, providing first line advice, guidance and support on all people related issues ensuring practical and relevant solutions are provided in line with legislation and Company policy. Issues include those relating to disciplinary, grievance, redundancy (single and whole department / site), probationary issues, attendance management, changes to terms and conditions of employment, etc.

  • Escalating complex, risky or sensitive cases to the HR Manager as required / appropriate.

  • Capturing and tracking all advice and key information on our systems / shared documents to ensure we provide accurate MI reporting to the business.
  • Analysing case management, and other business MI (i.e. turnover, absence, etc), to identify trends, enabling the HR team and business areas to develop effective action plans.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of HR processes and policies by keeping up to date with employment law and best practice.

  • Manage employee relations issues to ensure the best outcome, taking into account the needs of the business and the individual, in line with legislation and Company policy.

  • Effective close monitoring and management of long term absence cases to ensure full support is given, whilst time away from work is kept to a minimum, in line with individual needs.

  • Participate in the delivery of training sessions which are run / supported by the HR team, this includes courses on people management, HR policies and procedures and Corporate Induction.

  • Supporting the team in improving attitudes in the business towards existence of and support for mental ill health issues and current day flexible working practices.

  • To demonstrate regular and ongoing HR presence across all sites, to ensure a full understanding of what is happening in the business and that both managers and employees have the opportunity to have face to face contact with members of the HR team on a regular basis.

  • Attend formal meetings with managers across the whole business, both to ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures and legislation, whilst also assessing competence and providing guidance and coaching to improve skills for the future.

  • Contribute towards the completion of monthly, quarterly and annually required reports and submissions as well as regular adhoc requests from the management teams within the business.

  • Work closely with Payroll and Benefits Manager in respect of the effective notification of payroll adjustments, etc.

  • Working closely with the Recruitment team, supporting as required to ensure vacancies are filled quickly in line with business needs.

  • Work closely with the HR Administrator to ensure all related activities are completed in a timely manner, accurately and in line with business needs, providing full support as required in respect to the effective coordination of employee related correspondence (contracts, letters, eye care vouchers, absence paperwork, etc).

  • Complete / support in the completion of regular and ongoing HR-related projects and activities.

You will establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders that reflects our fast moving and energetic pace and ensure that the business areas are fully engaged with the HR Team. In addition, you will be responsible for delivering on HR projects and making sure they support the growth of the business. The successful candidate will have a track record of working successfully as an HR Advisor ideally in a commercial and fast paced environment. An up to date knowledge of employment lawand understanding how this can impact is essential. You will have a minimum CIPD Level 5 qualification.
