HR Advisor

SF Group are currently recruiting an immediately available HR Advisor to join an education provider in Telford, initially on a temporary basis but with a chance of extension.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the implementation of the Recruitment and Selection procedures
  • Advert preparation, interview preparation and coordination, attendance at interviews, overseeing appointment decisions, processing of appointment documentation, carrying our pre-employment checks including DBS processes and reference checks
  • Administration connected with Payroll including new appointments, contractual variations and terminations
  • Advise staff on DBS procedures as applicable and process applications in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Be familiar with pension provisions. Ensure that up to date information communicated to employees in either of the schemes
  • Ensure that employee records are maintained by updating the HR database with all staff details
  • Interpret and advise managers and staff on terms and conditions of employment
  • Provide managers with advice and support to enable them to effectively manage and resolve employee relations issues, including advise about employment issues. This will include but is not limited to; attendance management, probation, performance, disciplinary, grievance, redeployment and health and wellbeing issues
  • Implement the college safeguarding/child protection standards for staff – this will include being a registered counter signatory for the DBS, check evidence for disclosures and ensure that DBS disclosures are current and maintain DBS records in accordance with best practise and legislation
  • Support the review and creation of HR policies and procedures in line with legislation
  • Work pro-actively to contribute to the development of the HRIS
  • Plan and undertake special project work as required
  • Work flexibly to cover other members of the team when absent
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required

  • Good organisational skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Build rapport with staff
  • Good IT skills
  • Experience working with HRIS
