HR Advisor

Due to continued expansion, our client, a medical device design and development consultancy based near Saffron Walden, is looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their team. This position reports to the HR Director and will be key to our client attracting and retaining the very best people. The HR Advisor will deliver excellent HR advice and support by partnering with business groups, and will actively contribute to the many ongoing improvement projects within the HR team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working as part of the HR team to support the delivery of the recruitment plan; supporting and developing our recruitment processes, gaining and sharing market insights and enhancing the candidate experience
  • Working closely with the HR Co-ordinator to ensure our client’s induction and integration processes meet people’s needs, run smoothly and reflect their culture
  • Supporting the preparation of L&D plans including needs analysis, strategic capability development, supplier/partner assessment and selection, and delivery of these L&D plans. Additionally, supporting colleagues to create and deliver internal training
  • Coaching, up-skilling and supporting managers on best practice approaches to people management issues e.g. appraisal, absence, disciplinary, ensuring policy and legislative compliance
  • Supporting talent development and performance management processes as required
  • Supporting and advising the management team on wellbeing and absence management, both preventative initiatives and case management, and providing pastoral care to staff experiencing personal difficulties or illness
  • Policy research, development and implementation across a wide range of HR and business subjects
  • Contributing HR knowledge to strategic development, driving best practice and ongoing compliance with legislative changes
  • Contributing to all aspects of HR administration and process implementation across the employment relationship e.g. exit procedure, contract preparation, for designated areas of the business

The ideal candidate will enjoy being part of a team that shares knowledge and shapes ideas collectively to deliver the best possible output for the business, and they will roll their sleeves up to do whatever is required to support colleagues and the needs of the business. Candidates must have, or must be working towards, Advanced level 7 CIPD accreditation and must be educated to a minimum of A level standard or equivalent. It is essential that candidates have broad and varied experience in an HR Advisor role or equivalent for at least 3 years; including experience and knowledge of applying UK and European employment law across a variety of contract types, cases, and for the purpose of policy design and development and experience in the recruitment of high calibre, specialist people from need identification, through sourcing, interviewing to offering employment. Candidates will need to have had hands on experience of policy advice, support and case management across the full employment lifecycle and must also have had experience in L&D needs analysis, supplier assessment and selection, competence verification and systems to support these activities. Experience of working in a professional services or product design and development environment, as well as experience in training design and delivery on core HR competencies is desirable but not essential. It would be advantageous for candidates to have had experience working with an external legal advisor, as well as experience of Cezanne HR. HR systems and analytics experience (e.g. compensation and benefits modelling, process mapping for software based workflows, Microsoft Excel data manipulation) is desirable but not essential.
