Are you an experienced housing officer looking for an immediate temporary opportunity? Do you have experience of working within sheltered housing, often having to deal with call outs, and do you have experience of dealing with the elderly? As a housing officer you will be responsible for the day to day management of the council's sheltered housing and associated communal areas. You will be assisting to maintain a secure and safe environment within the buildings and surrounding grounds, engaging with other departments as required. You will work closely with home managers, other housing officers and council teams to ensure any breaches in anti social behaviour are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.

Within the role of a housing officer, you will carry out a very varied and rewarding job. Key responsibilities are;
*Undertaking health and safety checks to ensure compliance
*Monitor and promptly report any servicing or repairs
*Testing and recording of all alarm, pull cord and safety equipment
*Responsible for the lettings, fee collection and administration
*Ensure common areas are kept to a clean standard
*Monitor empty properties to ensure secure
*Welcome new tenants and support families for vacation properties
*Work with tenancy services to maintain a good level of service to users and public
*Maintain all records in line with compliance
Skills and attributes;
*Experience of working within housing is a must, with some knowledge of health and safety regulations
*Excellent communication skills
*Empathetic and able to show tact and discretion
*Ability to maintain accurate records
*Outstanding customer care
*Experience of working with elderly people would be ideal
*Not phased by dealing with often difficult and challenging situations
*Very flexible attitude
*Must have a full driving license and access to a car
*You will be required to have an enhanced DBS
You will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends, although unsociable hours are normally covered through a call out rota. Your usual hours will be 08.30-17.00 Monday-Thursday and 08.30-16.30 on a Friday. You will be required to have a reasonable level of fitness for this role as there will be a lot of standing and lifting. If you already have an enhanced DBS, dated within the last 12 months, then it will massively speed up the process.
